Priory ViewWelcome to Priory View, home of Dawn & Paul O’Callaghan. We relocated here from Newcastle Upon Tyne in May 2004 as we could not resist both the scenic and the relaxed atmosphere of Coldingham. We hope you feel the same.
Priory View was originally the police station/police house for Coldingham back in 1963, now it’s been transformed to our home which we hope makes you feel at home too.
Bikers welcome
As Paul has been a biker for many years, we know how hard it is to get bike friendly accommodation. We hope we offer this.
We have off road hard standing parking and a lockable dry room.
Whether it is for a knee down blast or a quiet ride out we have fantastic roads with great scenery to satisfy everybody.
Divers welcome
As Paul is a BSAC advanced nitrox diver we naturally had to build a heated lockable dry room which is ideal for divers. St Abbs is a world class diving destination and marine reserve where you can expect to see an abundant variety of marine life. St Abbs and Eyemouth offer all year round diving from either shore or boat with local charters available every day.
The two local dive shops do both nitrox and air fills and they are well equipped for all your diving needs.
Cyclists welcome
Cyclists come from all over the UK to ride on our scenic quiet roads. We both have cycles and ride them at every opportunity.
Cycling has become a very popular pastime in the borders with lots of varied routes to see our spectacular views and beautiful countryside. Signposted cycle routes and colour coded trails offer levels to suit all abilities.
You can even hire a bike from the local dive shop if you didn’t bring your own.
The heated dry room is also available for your wet clothes on those rainy days.
Walkers welcome
Dawn loves to walk all over the village to keep fit. The routes are quite quiet and the views up St Abbs head are fantastic. We provide a booklet with 14 walks ranging in length from 2 miles to 6 miles varying from a nice leisurely stroll to a more adventurous hike. The one you choose may be determined by how fit you feel after one of our large breakfasts!! The booklet also contains a variety of information about the village such as the history of the body snatchers as well as the origin of the famous saying “To cut off your nose to spite your face”
The heated dry room is also available for your wet clothes on those rainy days.
Golfers welcome
There are numerous golf courses in the region and we have played at both Eyemouth and Haggerston Castle. What is classed as the most extraordinary hole in the UK is located on the Eyemouth course whereas Haggerston Castle course is ideal for beginners. You can hire all the necessary equipment like clubs, trolleys etc for a small fee. There are over 20 local courses that should suit all skill levels and a majority are within a 20 minutes drive..
Visit Scotland Tourist Board offer a “freedom of the freeway” pass for 3 or 5 days golf for every golf club in the borders, which is very good value for money.
Discounts are also available for Priory View guests at Eyemouth 18 hole links course.
The heated dry room is also available for your wet clothes on those rainy days.
